What you need
Claimants
You will need the Hearing ID/Issue ID number to join the meeting. You can find it in the Notice of Hearing and Virtual Hearing Confirmation.
If you haven’t already, review what you need to do to get ready for your unemployment hearing.
Other participants
If you are a witness, employer, employer representative, or attorney, you will need the Hearing ID/Issue ID number to join. If you don't have it, the claimant or employer can share it with you.
Before the hearing
Set up your device
You can join a hearing from a computer, tablet, or phone.
Two days before the hearing, make sure:
- Your camera, microphone, and speakers are working
- You have access to a stable Internet connection in a quiet, private location
- You can access the Virtual Hearings Center from the device you will use for your hearing
- Your browser is up to date:
Join a test call
DUA uses Cisco Webex for online hearings. It is free and can be downloaded on your computer, tablet, or phone.
Two days before your hearing:
- Download WebEx on the device you will use to join the hearing
- Confirm that you can join a test meeting in WebEx:
- If you have trouble with WebEx, visit their support center
Day of the hearing
About 10 minutes before the scheduled hearing time:
- Log in to the hearing:
- Follow the link in the hearing confirmation email or
- Go to the Virtual Hearing Center and enter the Hearing ID/Issue ID number (you can find this in the Notice of Hearing)
- Read and accept the DUA Virtual Hearings terms and conditions
- Select your role in the hearing:
- Claimant
- Employer
- Witness or participant
- Attorney/Representative
- You'll join a virtual waiting room, where you should:
- Select "Allow notifications" so you are notified when your hearing begins
- Make sure your status is set to "Available"
- When the hearing begins, select the green "Enter Hearing" button to join
- This will launch a new window, select "Join" to enter
- Make sure your speakers, microphone, and camera are on
- You should be able to see and hear the review examiner
- During the hearing, follow the instructions of the hearing examiner
- When the hearing is over, exit out of all WebEx and browser windows

- If you are not able to join your hearing, contact the Hearings Department for support as soon as possible

If you aren’t able to join a virtual appeal hearing for any reason, you can request a phone or in-person hearing. Contact the Hearings Department as soon as possible to change the location of your hearing.
