What to do now:
- Follow the guidance in the procurement section for web pages and web sites provided by a vendor.
- Identify any individuals inside your organization that create content or develop web pages or websites and have them install an accessibility testing tool listed in the resources section to test, identify, and address accessibility defects for remediation.
- Perform some basic manual accessibility testing using keyboard, browser zoom and color contrast checker on web pages.
- Use the EditoriA11y content checker tool for Drupal for Mass.gov content authors and following these instructions on creating accessible and inclusive content on Mass.gov.

While the new federal rule has an exception for “archived content,” defined as content that is no longer used and is designated as archived for research or record-keeping purposes, no content (web pages or electronic documents) on Mass.gov is considered to be archived content.
All content on Mass.gov should be up-to-date, relevant, and useful to the public and not kept on the website for historical or research purposes. Researchers can access old Mass.gov content that is no longer published through public archive pages.
What to do now:
Identify all content on Mass.gov or other state websites that is no longer up-to-date, relevant and useful to the public and unpublish the content.
