Description
Whitin Reservoir, also known as Wallis Reservoir, is a 358-acre impoundment of New Canal Brook located in Douglas. Whitin Reservoir has an average depth of 14 feet, a maximum of 28 feet, and the shores are moderately developed with houses.
Recreational access
The Department and Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages an unimproved dirt launch suitable for cartop boats at the Wallis Pond trail head off of Wallis Street (get directions). Parking is limited to a few spots around the DCR gate and the shore is accessible from the Wallis Pond Trail and others in Douglas State Forest. Please contact the DCR offices of Douglas State Forest for additional information, fee structure and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Whitin Reservoir.

Fishing
Whitin Reservoir has produced largemouth bass, chain pickerel and black crappie that meet the minimum size for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
