Welcome to the Office of the Inspector General

The Office of the Inspector General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (OIG) is an independent state agency charged with preventing and detecting fraud, waste and abuse in the use of public funds and assets.

The OIG investigates allegations of fraud and waste at all levels of government, assists the public in preventing the misuse of public funds, and reviews programs and practices in state agencies and municipalities to identify systemic vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement.
