The Commonwealth's Jail and Arrest Diversion Initiative is a grant program provided by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) to local communities, law enforcement, and behavioral health providers. These Grant-funded projects collectively contribute to the overarching goal of strengthening law enforcement responses to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Since 2007, DMH has collaborated with law enforcement and community-based agencies to develop local Jail and Arrest Diversion Projects. JDP Annual Reports summarize the Department of Mental Health's (DMH) activities on the police-based Jail and Arrest Diversion Initiative.
