Mandated Reporter Commission

The Mandated Reporter Commission (MRC) was established by the Children’s Health and Wellness Act of 2019. The MRC completed its work in June 2021.  

The Act appointed members to the MRC and directed it to review and report on the Commonwealth’s mandated reporter laws and regulations and to make recommendations on how to improve the response to, and prevention of, child abuse and neglect in Massachusetts. The MRC filed a Status Report to the Legislature in December 2020 and a final report in June 2021. The links to these reports are below. 

Following these reports, in 2023 the OCA created a free, on-demand, online Mandated Reporter Training. You can find more information about this training on the OCA’s Mandated Reporter Training Initiative page.
