MassDOT NEVI Plan

Development of NEVI EV Infrastructure Deployment Plan

MassDOT is currently implementing its Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Deployment Plan as required by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program.

Through the NEVI program, Massachusetts will receive significant federal funding (roughly $63 MM) over five years. These federal funds are available for supporting the construction and operation of Direct-Current Fast Charging (DCFC) stations along major highway corridors as designated by the Federal Highway Administration.

MassDOT’s current activities include siting, design, and permitting of locations, as well as finalizing remaining contracts with private entities to accomplish the deployment strategy.

In fall 2024, MassDOT will be conducting an outreach process that includes holding 8 open house events across the Commonwealth to provide more details to the public and local communities about the upcoming construction and operation of stations.
