PERAC Memo #11, 2019
FROM: John W. Parsons, Esq., Executive Director
RE: Workers’ Compensation Data Match in PROSPER
DATE: February 8, 2019
The workers’ compensation law requires that within fifteen days of a Department of Industrial Accident (DIA) order, decision, or approval of a memorandum of agreement that involves a public employee, the DIA must provide a copy of the document to the Retirement Board and to PERAC. This transmittal of information has not always occurred. As a result, PERAC and the DIA perform an annual data match of the PERAC disability retiree database and the DIA database. Retirement Boards will now be provided with their members for which an action has been entered into the DIA database through PROSPER. You can find this report under Members/DIA. This report will be generated on an annual basis. If your board does not have a match, a report will not be generated.
Column 2 contains the member’s name.
Column 3 contains the last four digits of the member’s social security number.
Column 4 contains the member’s date of birth.
Column 5 contains the date of the member’s retirement.
Column 6 contains the member’s occupation from PERAC’s database.
Column 7 contains the period the data match was run.
If the list contains a reference to a member of your System and you are not aware of his or her workers’ compensation status, I would urge you to contact his or her employer’s Workers’ Compensation Agent for further information.
It is important to contact the Workers’ Compensation Agents periodically so that any offsets required by G.L. c. 32, § 14 can be implemented in an expeditious manner. If a disability retiree from your system is not on the list, you may wish to contact the Agent to ascertain the individual’s status. If you have questions, please feel free to contact this office.
