RE: PROSPER and the Legal Review of Disabilities

DATE: July 17, 2017

We are extremely pleased at the reception our new web-based communication system, PROSPER, has gotten from the retirement boards.  We have received positive feedback from the boards about how this system is making many tasks easier than they were before.

In Memorandum #19/2017, we explained that different phases of PROSPER would be launched throughout the year.  The purpose of this memorandum is to inform the boards that, as of Tuesday, September 5, 2017, approved disabilities and death benefits submitted for the Legal Unit’s review under G.L. c. 32, §§ 21(1)(d) and 21(4) will only be accepted via PROSPER.  We will not be able to accept either paper submissions or e-doc submissions after that date.  In PROSPER, an application should be submitted for legal review via the “Disability Transmittal” tab.

Please make sure that you have indicated to us who in your office should have access to the PROSPER disability application.  Please be sure that all staff needing access to the Disability Portal are registered as users.

If you have any questions about this or run into any difficulty, please contact the help desk at (617) 591-8983 during regular business hours or email PER-ProsperHelp@per.state.ma.us.  We normally respond to inquiries within one business day.

Thank you for your continued cooperation during this phase of PROSPER’s implementation.
