October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month!

Every day we are more and more connected - whether messaging family and friends, shopping online, or ordering supplies for our small businesses. It’s important to take steps to stay safe when using our phones, laptops and smart devices.

There are a lot of different ways that you can stay safe online. Secure Our World, the cybersecurity awareness program from The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is a collective effort calling for individuals, businesses, and organizations to take actionable steps to stay safe and secure online.

We can each play a part in securing our world by following best practices such as using strong passwords, turning on multifactor authentication, updating software, and recognizing and reporting phishing. By following these four steps, we can reduce our vulnerability to deceptive tactics, making it difficult for cyber criminals to steal our information.

Each week during October, the Division of Banks will be posting information and tip sheets on cybersecurity best practices.
