BOSTONAttorney General Andrea Joy Campbell announced indictments against Dyllan Lopes and Angelo Henderson by a statewide grand jury including multiple counts of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, and associated firearms offenses arising from a shooting. Dyllan Lopes, age 21 of Quincy, was indicted for 31 crimes in six counties. Angelo Henderson, age 19 of Taunton, was indicted for 9 crimes in 2 counties.

The allegations revealed that Lopes and Henderson engaged in a scheme to fraudulently acquire luxury cars from auto auctions and to steal them through other means, and then sold, or attempted to sell, the stolen vehicles through Facebook Marketplace using multiple aliases.  For the sixteen stolen vehicles identified in the indictments across six counties – Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Bristol, Plymouth, and Worcester – the total estimated value is approximately $1,067,613.

Lopes and Henderson were also indicted for their alleged participation in a shooting in Dorchester that occurred on March 10, 2023. Surveillance video shows two men, later identified as the defendants, exiting a stolen vehicle together and walking in the direction of the victim.  Then, the video that showed the individual identified as Lopes ran directly at the victim and fired nine shots at him on a residential street in broad daylight. The victim was not hit by the gunfire, but several bullets struck a passing MBTA bus carrying fifteen passengers. None of the passengers were hurt. These charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Angelo Henderson has been arraigned and posted a $12,500 bail. Henderson is currently out of custody on a GPS bracelet with other conditions of release. Dyllan Lopes has been arraigned in all six counties in which he is charged and is currently held in custody on $100,000 bail.

These indictments are the result of a months-long, statewide investigation led by the Massachusetts State Police, in partnership with Boston Police Department, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, and auto auction entities Copart and the International Auto Auction, with assistance from multiple other state and local law enforcement agencies. This matter is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Gretchen Brodigan and Intelligence Analyst Jillian Bodreau of the Attorney General’s Enterprise and Major Crimes Division, Financial Investigator Patrick Cooney, and the Attorney General’s Office Digital Evidence Laboratory.
