Press Release  AG Campbell Announces More Than $2.4 Million In Citations Against Concierge Staffing Company For Wage And Hour, Sick Time And Payroll Violations

Boston — Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell announced $2,459,293 in citations against Concierge Services, Inc. and its owner Gregory Doyle. Concierge Services, Inc. is a Plymouth-based corporation that provides concierges staffing services to high-end, luxury properties in Greater Boston. Concierge Services, Inc.’s employees provide services such as staffing front desks, receiving packages, assisting residents, announcing and screening visitors.   

The violations were committed from January 2018 to December 2021, including during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The violations include failure to pay minimum wage and overtime, failure to make timely payment of wages, improper deductions from wages, record keeping violations and failure to comply with numerous provisions of Massachusetts' earned sick time law, including not permitting employees to use sick time and not paying them for earned sick time they did use. 

“When a company repeatedly violates our wage and benefits laws, the workers and their families suffer, and sadly some of these violations took place during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said AG Campbell. “My office will continue to hold accountable those who violate our worker protection laws.” 

Under Massachusetts Earned Sick Time law, employees in Massachusetts are entitled to accrue an hour of earned sick time for every 30 hours worked and employees must be permitted to take job-protected sick leave after 90 days of employment. Additionally, Massachusetts’ Wage and Hour laws dictate that workers must be paid for all the time that they work and to be paid on time. They must get paystubs and be able to see their employer's record of their hours and pay. 

This is the latest example of AG Campbell’s effort to protect workers, especially vulnerable workers. Last year, AG Campbell issued $6.8 million in citations against MGM Casino for wage and hour violations affecting hundreds of tipped and service workers. AG Campbell highlighted resources during National Human Trafficking Prevention month for identifying and reporting labor and sex trafficking. AG Campbell has made enforcing child labor protections a top priority, issuing citations against Dunkin’ Franchisees, Dave and Busters, and the owners of two Plymouth based restaurants.
