Boston — Attorney General Maura Healey today issued the following statement following the announcement that Education Secretary Betsy DeVos rescinded Obama-era guidelines on campus sexual assault:

“Today, Secretary DeVos abandoned survivors of sexual assault on college campuses and all students looking to learn in a safe environment free from violence and discrimination. Addressing the epidemic of sexual violence should be a top priority for the Department. By rescinding these critical protections, Secretary DeVos has shown a clear disregard for the safety of our students, and undermined years of hard-won progress on our campuses. In anticipation of her visit to Cambridge next week, I invite Secretary DeVos to meet with me and stakeholders in Massachusetts fighting to uphold these rights under Title IX.”
