Boston — In recognition of the Legislature’s passage of the Statewide Grand Jury, Attorney General Maura Healey issued the following statement:

“I thank the House and Senate for their swift action on the Statewide Grand Jury. I want to particularly thank Senate President Stan Rosenberg, House Speaker Robert Deleo, Senators Spilka and Brownsberger, and Representatives Dempsey and Fernandes for their leadership on this issue. The Statewide Grand Jury will help us to combat human trafficking, and illegal gang, gun and drug activity, minimize trauma for victims and witnesses of having to testify multiple times, and is more cost effective than a county-by-county system. I am hopeful that Governor Baker will sign this measure in order to support a more efficient and effective justice system. Again, I am grateful to the Legislature for their efforts.”
