Press Release  AG Healey's Statement on Federal Court Decision Blocking President Obama's Executive Orders on Immigration

Boston — Today, Attorney General Maura Healey issued the following statement in response to a federal court decision granting an injunction to block President Obama’s executive orders on immigration.

Last month, the AG’s Office, along with attorneys general from 11 states and the District of Columbia, signed onto an amicus brief  in support of President Obama's executive actions, urging the federal judge not to issue a preliminary injunction.

Statement from Attorney General Maura Healey:

“We need more actions to fix our broken immigration system, not more obstacles, and that is why this decision is so disappointing. This decision immediately puts children at increased risk of deportation, and impacts families in Massachusetts and across the country. President Obama took strong action to help these families and begin to fix this deeply flawed system, and that is why our office supported his actions in this case. We are now committed to supporting the Department of Justice’s appeal. In the meantime, this is just the latest reminder that Congress has completely failed to lead on this issue. It is time for our Congressional leaders to come together, stop kicking the can down the road, and enact meaningful immigration reform.”
