Awards Over $377,000 In Grant Funding to 35 Organizations Supporting Youth Summer Jobs Focused on Advancing Public Health

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office (AGO) today announced that it has awarded $377,192.31 in funding to 35 organizations across the Commonwealth to support youth summer job opportunities that focus on advancing public health and professional development for young people.

The funding was awarded through the AGO’s Healthy Summer Youth Jobs (HSYJ) Grant Program, which provides annual grant funding to community-based non-profit organizations and municipalities that create meaningful summer job opportunities for youth. The Program helps support young people enrich their own professional development through on-the-job experience, skills development, and career planning.

Since its inception 11 years ago, the HSYJ Program has awarded more than $3 million in grants, funding more than 1,000 summer youth jobs in over 85 cities and towns across the Commonwealth.

This year, for fiscal year 2026 of the HSYJ Program, the AGO has awarded 35 organizations, including non-profit, municipal, and other government entities. The development of this year’s HSYJ Program was informed by members of the Attorney General’s Youth Advisory Council.

Examples of programs supported by this year’s funding include: 

  • Health Literacy/Education Initiatives
  • Physical Activity/Wellness Programs
  • Nutrition/Food Insecurity Initiatives 
  • Mental Health/Peer Support Programs 
  • Environmental Projects 
  • Violence Prevention/Community Safety 
  • Substance Use/Harm Reduction Programs
