BostonThe owner of a freight shipping business and a transportation company have been indicted for failing to pay employer contributions to the state’s unemployment insurance fund over several years, Attorney General Maura Healey announced today.

These sets of allegations are unrelated but cover similar activity:

Global FF&E:

Global FF&E (aka Nationwide FF&E), a Merrimack, New Hampshire company that provides liquidation for business furniture and equipment, and its owner, James Bucchianeri, were indicted by a Suffolk County Grand Jury this week on Non-Payment of Employer Contribution (16 counts). They will be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court at a later date, via virtual conference.

The AG’s Office alleges that the company routinely failed to pay or underpaid Unemployment Insurance contributions for its Massachusetts employees between 2014 and 2019. In total, the AG’s Office alleges that they failed to pay at least $449,569 to the state’s Department of Unemployment Assistance.

Ultimate Livery:

Ultimate Livery and Shuttle Service Corporation, an airport shuttle transportation company formally headquartered in Canton, and its owner Robert Landry, were also indicted by a Suffolk County Grand Jury this week on Non-Payment of Employer Contribution (13 counts). They will be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court at a later date, via virtual conference.

The AG’s Office alleges that the company routinely failed to pay or underpaid Unemployment Insurance contributions for its Massachusetts employees between 2014 and 2017 and dissolved in 2019. In total, the AG’s Office alleges that they failed to pay at least $170,982.18 to the state’s Department of Unemployment Assistance.

AG Healey’s Insurance and Unemployment Fraud Unit works to protect consumers and the integrity of the insurance system by investigating and prosecuting those who commit fraud against all types of insurers, including the state’s unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation systems. These cases were referred to the AG’s Office by the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance.

These charges are allegations and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.

On behalf of the AG’s Office, these matters were handled by Assistant Attorney General Joshua Pakstis and Senior Investigator Michael Azevedo, of AG Healey’s Insurance and Unemployment Fraud Unit and investigators at the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development/Department of Unemployment Assistance.
