Boston — The Alcohol Task Force convened by Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg announced the formation of five working groups as part of its review of the legal and regulatory framework governing the alcoholic beverage industry in Massachusetts. The Task Force, which consists of appointees selected by Treasurer Goldberg, Governor Charles Baker, Senate President Stanley Rosenberg and Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, will use the groups to discuss proposed recommendations and action items from individuals, consumers, industry professionals, business owners and trade associations.

Meetings will take place in July and August. Participants will be organized into committees addressing the following issues:

  • Alcohol Beverage Control Commission (ABCC) Operations and Resources
  • Industry Improvements  
  • Licensing Process
  • Local Economic Development
  • Public Health, Safety and Prevention

Individuals interested in participating should sign up and provide additional information at the following link by no later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017. Signing up does not guarantee selection, and the Task Force will contact those who request to participate with additional information. If you are interested in more than one category listed above, please rank your preferences in order.

As part of its review, the Task Force has also invited members of the public to submit written position papers and held six hearings around the state in Waltham, Foxborough, Leominster, Northampton, Bourne and Andover.
