It’s America Saves Week! Since 2007 America Saves Week has been an annual celebration as well as a call to action for consumers to commit to saving successfully.

America Saves connects thousands of government, non-profit and corporate institutions to communities and consumers who take the pledge to commit to saving and better spending habits.

Since its launch, America Saves has enrolled over 400,000 savers spread over 65 communities. We hope you join us this week celebrating savings and achieving better financial stability. Use this year’s America Saves Weeks framework to achieve your goals:

• Save automatically: this is the easiest and most effective way to save. Saving automatically helps save for an emergency fund, education expense and retirement fund. This process puts you in the best position to reach any financial or savings goals.
• Save with a plan: if you make a plan to save, you are twice as likely to be successful in meeting your savings goals. Creating goals without a roadmap towards achieving them is not enough.
• Save for the unexpected: with the rising debt in the United States and the uncertainty of the various circumstances that may affect us, saving for the unexpected will help us cover costs that may unexpectedly incur.
• Save to retire: a majority of the population is most likely worried about the present, however, it is extremely beneficial to begin saving for tomorrow to ensure a desired standard of living in your senior years. Make sure to visit the Social Security website for more information.
• Save by reducing debt: saving to pay down your debt would help stop interest from exponentially rising, as time progresses. Therefore, consumers would benefit strongly from long term saving to ensure that expenses do not rise over time.
