- Operational Services Division
For the seventh consecutive year, Massachusetts is recognized for its leadership in offering sustainable electronics choices on Statewide Contract through the annual EPEAT Purchaser Award.
The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, or EPEAT™, enables organizations to address the lifecycle impacts of electronics purchases, such as computers, displays, printers, copiers, mobile phones, servers, and televisions. The Commonwealth and the Operational Services Division (OSD) were bestowed a Four-star Award for our 2022 sustainability efforts in each of the following areas: Computers and Displays (ITC73), Imaging Equipment (ITC66)*, Mobile Phones (ITT72), and Servers (ITC73).
In 2022, Commonwealth of Massachusetts public buyers purchased 171,402 EPEAT-eligible products and the Global Electronics Council (GEC), the non-profit organization that manages the EPEAT ecolabel, estimates Commonwealth cost savings of $20,194,542 over the products’ lifetime.
Environmental impact reductions through these purchases include greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions of 106,341,181 kilograms of CO2 equivalents and energy savings of 457,227,909 kilowatt hours.
Use the Environmentally Preferable Products and Services Guide to find Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP) and Services options on OSD’s Statewide Contracts.
