The Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) is excited to announce a call for new positions. DER is a growing organization dedicated to the restoration and protection of rivers, wetlands, and watersheds for the benefit of people and the environment. We are seeking motivated and diverse candidates to help DER reach our goals as part of our team. A summary and link to the full job announcements and instructions are below. Ecological Restoration Engineer (posted January 30, 2024)

The Ecological Restoration Engineer will play a critical role to build and support DER's restoration engineering and project management approaches. Operating under the newly developed Technical Services Branch, this is a unique opportunity to play a part in creating the foundation for a vital area of DER’s work. The Technical Service Branch provides restoration planning, engineering assistance, knowledge management, and other services in support of DER’s restoration programs, operations, and communications. Join a team of habitat restoration professionals to increase the scale and pace of ecological restoration across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Ecological Restoration Grants Manager (posted January 8, 2024)

The Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) seeks a passionate, problem-solving individual that is looking to make an impact on our planet. This candidate will serve as Grants Manager for DER’s Culvert Replacement Municipal Assistance (CRMA) Grant Program, which works with municipalities to implement improved road stream-crossings that benefit fish and wildlife passage and enhance climate and ecological resilience. This role will work closely with the Stream Continuity Program to increase scale, pace, and capacity of culvert replacement projects across the Commonwealth that meet the Massachusetts Stream Crossing Standards.

Ecological Restoration Specialist Dam Removal (posted December 8, 2023)

The Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) seeks a passionate, solution-driven individual that is looking to make an impact on our planet. This candidate will serve as project manager for assigned ecological restoration projects focusing on dam removal and river restoration, but also working on other projects like salt marsh restoration, freshwater wetland restoration, retired cranberry bog restoration, culvert removal/replacement, and other project types. This role will work closely with the Dam Removal Program Manager to support DER’s Habitat Restoration Branch initiatives and activities.

Operations Coordinator (posted December 5, 2023)

The Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) seeks an individual with strong creativity and critical thinking with a passion for collaboration and healing the environment. DER’s Operations Coordinator will encourage correct and widespread usage of DER’s knowledge base and digital solutions, as well as a strong sense of collaboration, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. Projects may include but are not limited to the maintenance, enhancement, and user support of digital tools (i.e. databases for tracking ecological restoration project data, tools that integrate budgeting and internal controls, and software for indexing workflows and policies); building an internal knowledge library; and documenting standard operating procedures.
