The Hampden County Sheriff's Office has again been recognized as a "Patriotic Employer" by the United States Department of Defense. This prestigious award honors Sheriff Nick Cocchi's commitment to supporting his staff who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
Sheriff Cocchi's dedication shines through in his efforts to provide flexible schedules, time off for deployment, and support for their families.
"For those who keep our nation safe both here and abroad, easing their burdens during deployment is the least we can do," Sheriff Cocchi said. "We are proud to have so many of our officers also wear a military uniform, and work to make the world a better place wherever their journey takes them."
The Hampden County Sheriff's Office has 118 veterans from all branches of the military working in various roles across their facilities. There are also 33 active duty servicemembers on staff.
Earl T. Bonnett, Massachusetts Area Chair of the Defense Department's Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, presented Sheriff Cocchi with the award at the Main Institution in Ludlow.
