Provider Information Report 6-12-2018

Good afternoon,

I am contacting you as an individual who has expressed interest to be informed about Massachusetts Division of Insurance (DOI) information sessions on health issues.

The Division is sending this notice to inform interested parties that it is issuing a report to summarize an examination of Massachusetts’ health carriers provider network information.  The report presents information on carriers’ systems to collect, store and report provider information, results of “secret shopper” calls made to survey provider network information, actions that carriers are to take to improve provider network information and additional steps that the Division may consider to take to amend existing regulations to improve managed care members’ ability to obtain appointments with providers when they need to access care.

The Division is looking to draft changes to its existing managed care regulation – 211 CMR 52.00 – in the next few months and is interested to hear any and all thoughts from interested parties about things it should consider as it drafts these amendments.
