Boston, MA — In response to reports appearing in the media recently, the Commission on Judicial Conduct issued a statement today that it currently has a complaint pending before it in connection with the allegations that were made against District Court Judge Thomas Estes in a complaint filed with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) by Ms. Tammy Cagle.

The Commission’s investigation and consideration of the allegations against Judge Estes is independent of MCAD’s investigation and is subject to the procedures outlined in its Rules and enabling statute.

    The Commission on Judicial Conduct (CJC) is the state agency responsible for investigating complaints alleging that a state court judge has engaged in judicial misconduct or has a disability preventing him or her from properly performing judicial duties.

    The CJC is also responsible for pursuing, when it is appropriate, remedial action or discipline against state court judges.
