BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has assessed a $14,364 penalty to Ken’s Foods LLC for violating air quality and hazardous waste regulations at its facility in Marlborough.

MassDEP determined that the company exceeded production limits established in its air permit, failed to keep accurate records of its air emissions, and failed to properly register as a large quantity generator of hazardous waste.

“Manufacturing operations must comply with the air quality and hazardous waste regulations that are designed to protect public health and the environment,” said John Beling, regional director of MassDEP’s Central Regional Office in Worcester. “Ken’s Foods LLC will return to compliance to ensure safe and healthy operations.”

Under the settlement agreement with MassDEP, Ken’s Foods will pay the $14,364 penalty and will complete the required actions to return to compliance, including improving its management of hazardous waste and adhering to the terms of its air permit.
