BOSTON, MA — The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) is pleased to announce that Lila L. Roberts, Esq. has been appointed as the Acting Chief of Investigations.
"Acting Chief Roberts brings a wealth of experience and deep institutional knowledge to this role," said Michael Memmolo, Executive Director at the MCAD. "Their dedication to fair and thorough investigations, as well as their commitment to mentorship and training, make them an excellent choice to lead the Investigations division during this time of transition. We are confident that under their leadership, the MCAD will continue to uphold its mission of enforcing Massachusetts’ anti-discrimination laws and innovate our work to better serve the people of the Commonwealth."
Roberts, who has most recently served as the MCAD’s Attorney Advisor Unit Supervisor, brings over 15 years of experience in the Commission’s Investigations Division. Since joining MCAD in 2008, they have played a critical role in advising on legal aspects of discrimination investigations, making recommendations to the Investigating Commissioner on active case investigations, drafting orders, conducting trainings internally and externally, mediating case disputes between parties, and mentoring law student interns at the MCAD.
“I am truly honored to continue the work of the Commission in this new role, and I am committed to developing in collaboration with my dedicated colleagues, new and innovative methods for moving the work forward,” shared Acting Chief Roberts about the appointment.
Prior to their tenure at MCAD, Roberts worked at Greater Boston Legal Services from 2001 to 2008 as both a paralegal and an attorney, specializing in housing law and advocating for low-income families seeking emergency shelter and affordable housing. They are a graduate of Boston University and Suffolk University Law School.
The MCAD looks forward to Roberts’ leadership in this role as they continue to uphold the agency’s mission of enforcing Massachusetts’ anti-discrimination laws.
