The license and license renewal processes for cigars and smoking tobacco distributors have changed. Licenses for new registrations must be completed online through MassTaxConnect. Beginning August 1, 2018, license renewals must also be completed online through MassTaxConnect.
Under the new process, the information required to complete the application is more detailed to allow for a more robust review. Applicants must complete the new Application for Distributor License for Cigars and Smoking Tobacco, and a Personal Questionnaire for each controlling member of a company.
DOR has provided a Checklist for Distributor License for Cigars and Smoking Tobacco to assist in completing the process, which includes a list of documents that may be required. The new forms can be viewed on the Cigarette and Tobacco Forms page on the DOR website. It is recommended that you review the new forms before beginning the online licensing process through MassTaxConnect.
