BostonA Peabody man was indicted yesterday by an Essex County Grand Jury in connection with a heroin/fentanyl and cocaine trafficking operation in Peabody as part of a joint federal, state and local investigation, Attorney General Maura Healey announced today.

Guillermo Jiminian, 37, of Peabody, was charged with one count each of Trafficking Cocaine over 100 grams, and Trafficking Heroin over 36 grams. Jiminian is being held on these charges out of Peabody District Court, where Judge Michael Patten previously set bail at $200,000. Jiminian will appear in Peabody District Court for a probable cause hearing on October 25 and will be arraigned in Essex Superior Court at a later date.

These charges are the result of an investigation involving the AG’s Enterprise, Major and Cyber Crime Division, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (CINRET) and the AG’s Office, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Peabody Police Department. The defendant was arrested in Peabody and arraigned in Peabody District Court in August after investigators uncovered 115 grams of cocaine and 96 grams of heroin/fentanyl when a search warrant was executed at his residence.

This investigation is ongoing. These charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

AG Healey’s Office has been working closely with its federal, state and local partners to combat illegal drug trafficking. AG Healey formed a Fentanyl Strike Force to more aggressively combat the heroin and prescription drug abuse crisis in Massachusetts. The AG’s Office is using a multi-faceted approach that includes education for prescribers, pursuing illegal drug traffickers and pill mills, and expanding access to recovery and treatment programs.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Megan McLaughlin of the AG’s Enterprise, Major and Cyber Crimes Division, with assistance from Victim Witness Advocate Ellen Davis of the AG’s Victim Witness Services Division. The case is being investigated by the AG’s Enterprise, Major and Cyber Crime Division, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (CINRET) and the AG’s Office, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Peabody Police Department.
