Subject: Termination of April 1, 2020 COVID-19 Waiver of Requirement for Pharmacies to Collect and Submit Customer ID Information to the Prescription Monitoring Program

On June 15, 2021, Governor Baker ended the COVID-19 State of Emergency in Massachusetts. In connection with the end of the state of emergency, effective immediately the Massachusetts Drug Control Program is terminating the waiver of the requirement in 105 CMR 700.012(A) for pharmacies to collect and submit ID or signature information when dispensing a controlled substance or Additional Drug. Please return to standard practice in collection and submission of ASAP field AIR05- ID of Person Picking Up Rx , outlined in the PMP Data Submission Dispenser Guide (Version 4.0) If you have any questions, please contact the PMP by email at mapmp.dph@mass.gov. All applicable statutes, regulations, and guidance not inconsistent with this document remain in effect.
