- Group Insurance Commission
Important! All GIC Medicare insurance health plans include Medicare Part D Prescription coverage. If you enroll in a non-GIC Medicare Part D product during Medicare Open Enrollment or anytime throughout the year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will terminate your GIC coverage. This means that you will lose your GIC health, behavioral health, and prescription drug benefits.
Also, if you cancel or do not pay the Medicare Part B premium to CMS while enrolled in a GIC Medicare plan, you will no longer be eligible for GIC health, behavioral health and prescription drug coverage. The federal government deducts the Medicare Part B premium from your monthly Social Security or bills you quarterly.
If your GIC Medicare Health Plan is terminated, your next opportunity to apply to re-enroll in GIC health coverage is during GIC’s Annual Enrollment period which occurs every Spring for coverage effective July 1st.
