Springfield — A Springfield man has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography, Attorney General Maura Healey’s Office announced today.
Jeffrey Lynn Duncan, age 53, of Springfield, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography. Massachusetts State Police assigned to the AG’s Office, with assistance from the Springfield Police Department, arrested Duncan today in Springfield without incident. He will be arraigned in Springfield District Court tomorrow in the morning session, which begins at 9 a.m.
“Accessing and viewing child pornography exploits and victimizes these children over and over again,” said AG Healey. “We are committed to protecting our children and will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute online predators.”
In April, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shared information with the AG’s Office about an e-mail account that was allegedly obtaining child pornography images. State Police assigned to the AG’s Office then began an investigation and linked the account to Duncan.
State Police obtained and executed a search warrant authorizing the search of a Springfield residence linked to Duncan. Subsequent initial investigation of devices seized revealed alleged images of child pornography.
The investigation is ongoing. These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Hoerner of AG Healey’s Cyber Crime Division. It was investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Attorney General’s Office and investigators from the AG’s Digital Evidence Lab, with assistance from the Springfield Police Department.
