BostonAttorney General Maura Healey today released the following statement in response to Governor Charlie Baker’s signing into law An Act Relative to Firearms, which includes legislation relative to extreme risk protection orders:

“Strong gun laws save lives,” said AG Healey. “This law will empower families and police to stop people from using weapons who are a danger to themselves and others. I thank the Legislature for passing this critical legislation, the Governor for signing it into law, and the countless young people and advocates who marched and spoke out to make this day possible. I will continue to advocate for common sense reforms to reduce gun violence and I urge all states to join Massachusetts in taking a stand against violence.”
