Boston — Today, in response to Senate President Rosenberg’s call for criminal justice reform in the coming legislative session, AG Healey issued this statement:

“I want to commend Senate President Rosenberg’s focus on criminal justice reform, and I believe his call for a data-driven approach to future sentencing and other reforms is right on the mark. The time is now to make changes that will better protect our communities and break cycles of violence and incarceration. That is why any meaningful criminal justice reforms must include a focus on and support for crime prevention initiatives, treatment for those dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues, effective job training and education, re-entry programs and reducing recidivism. My office is committed to working with the Senate President, Speaker, Governor, Legislature, Courts, and all stakeholders as we take much needed steps to make our justice system work better for everyone.”
