Press Statement  Statement from Treasurer Goldberg on the passage of H4509 “An Act to Establish Pay Equity”

Boston — State Treasurer Deb Goldberg issued the following statement on the Massachusetts House of Representative’s passage of H4509, An Act to establish pay equity. The bill was approved unanimously Thursday and bars employers from discriminating based on gender when it comes to wages and other compensation and prevents employers from requesting salary history when hiring.

“This is a great day for Massachusetts,” said Treasurer Goldberg. “The passage of the Equal Pay Bill is a critical step in the fight to ensure equity for everyone. When women are paid equally, we have healthier families and a stronger economy.”
