Boston — State Treasurer Deb Goldberg issued the following statement on Tuesday's passage of Question 4, relative to the legalization, regulation, and taxation of marijuana.

“On Tuesday the citizens of Massachusetts voted in favor of Question 4, which legalizes recreational marijuana and creates a Cannabis Control Commission within my office that will regulate the new industry.

We are committed to implementing this new law and ensuring it is done in the safest and best way on behalf of all Massachusetts residents.

We intend to work collaboratively with the Legislature and other stakeholders to ensure that this process is professional and fair to everyone concerned."
