Boston — Today, Judge Janet Sanders formally rejected the proposed consent judgment with Partners HealthCare regarding its potential merger with South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. On Monday, AG Healey filed a notice with the court expressing concerns about the possible consent judgment, and today released this statement in response to the court’s decision:

“In light of the court’s ruling, it is now Partners’ decision whether to proceed with the acquisition of South Shore Hospital. Our office is prepared to litigate to block this transaction if Partners chooses to move forward. We remain committed to tackling the challenge of controlling health care costs while also promoting quality and access.”
