If you receive a check in the mail that you were not expecting, it’s fair to assume that there is probably a catch. When has a company ever sent you unsolicited money, after all? Hold that thought, because Valpak has been offering a promotion where they are randomly sending out $100 checks to consumers across the country, no strings attached!
The direct marketing company based out of Florida announced at the start of the year that $100 checks will be included in select envelopes across all markets every month throughout this entire calendar year (2018). This free money from Valpak isn’t a new promotion. According to Valpak, they have been sending surprise checks since 1988! However, a Fox affiliate in West Michigan, reports that less than a quarter of checks were cashed during last year’s promotion.
Valpak states that they will not collect any personal information from winners and they “will not be solicited or contacted by Valpak or its advertisers.” Keep in mind that in Massachusetts, if you pay by check merchants may only record your name, address, and driver’s license or state ID card, and telephone number. The merchant can ask to see a credit card but cannot write down your credit card number.
If you like receiving free money that isn’t a scam, look in your mail for the Valpak envelope. CBS Boston reports that Valpak’s next set of coupons will be sent out in early April. A $100 check may be heading your way!
