Boston — The State Treasurer's Office of Economic Empowerment (OEE) announced today that it is accepting applications for the 2022 Women in Finance Fellowship. Next year's fellowship marks the sixth year of the program, which offers female-identifying undergraduate students positions within financial departments or quasi-agencies managed by the Office of the State Treasurer. The nine-week fellowship runs from Tuesday, May 31st, 2022 to Friday, July 29th, 2022.

The upcoming fellowship offers full-time positions within the State Treasurer's Debt Management Department, the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, the Massachusetts School Building Authority, and the Pension Reserve Investment Management Board. Fellows will engage in finance-related projects and give support to the offices' day-to-day activities. The program includes a robust mentorship component giving fellows one-on-one opportunities to learn and gain insights from financial specialists within the Treasury.

"This program provides Massachusetts young women with experiences that not only enhance their financial skills, but also helps to build their self-confidence as they begin their careers in the financial services industry," said State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg. "Women are still underrepresented in these high paying fields, and we see this fellowship as an investment in both their future and the future of our state."

The deadline to submit applications is Friday, December 10, 2021. Applicants must include a resume, a cover letter, one letter of recommendation, and the answers to attached questions on the application. Due to COVID-19, the fellowship may adopt an in-person, remote, or hybrid schedule depending on safety protocols. Please follow these links to apply for the following fellowships:

Since its founding in 2016, the Women in Finance Fellowship has prepared women to enter the finance industry with the experience and confidence needed to become leaders in their fields. The program also provides them with a supportive network of women and men from across the public and private sectors that will enhance their career development.

When Treasurer Goldberg took office in 2015, she created the Office of Economic Empowerment to improve the economic wellbeing of Massachusetts residents. The office works to promote programs that serve women, families, high school students, veterans, and seniors. Its initiatives focus on closing the race and gender wage gap, racial equity, increasing access to financial education, improving college affordability, and investing in STEM careers and education.
