Veterans Homes Council

Created in 2022, the Veterans Homes Council acts as an advisory body for the Secretary of the Executive Office of Veterans Services to ensure the health, well-being, and safety of residents of state-operated Veterans Homes at Holyoke and Chelsea.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Suggest rules and policies for the state-run Veterans Homes to the Secretary of Veterans Services,
  2. Share suggestions for hiring or firing the Superintendent of the Veterans Homes
  3. Provide a yearly report on both Veterans Homes with ideas to improve fairness and access for everyone, regardless of race, religion, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Veterans Home Council Meeting Schedule

NOTE: The Veterans’ Homes Council is defined by Chapter 144 of the acts of 2022.  The Council has one regular meeting per quarter. These meetings are open to public attendance except when the Council meets in Executive Session.

The meetings are held remotely or in a hybrid manner as a video conference consistent with St. 2021, c. 20, s. 20, which provides for certain modifications to the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law.
