Veterans' Homes Council

The nineteen member Veterans’ Homes Council was established through law in 2022. The Council acts an advisory body to make recommendations to the Secretary of the Executive Office of Veterans’ Services (EOVS) to ensure the health, well-being, and safety of residents of state-operated Veterans’ Homes and access to equitable, high quality, and competent care for veterans across the Commonwealth.


Veterans' Council responsibilities

The Council’s responsibilities include: recommend policies and propose rules and regulations pertaining to state-operated Veterans’ Homes to the Secretary of Veterans’ Services; refer recommendations for appointment or removal for the Superintendent of the Veterans’ Homes; and provide an annual report of the two Veterans’ Homes and recommendations to increase regional equity and accessibility and to provide for equitable access for people of all identities including, but not limited to, race, religion, sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
