The Veterans Reintegration Advisory Committee is entrusted with actively investigating, studying, and scrutinizing various aspects of veterans reintegration into civilian life.
VRAC Background and Responsibilities
S3097, An Act addressing barriers to care for mental health, was passed on August 10, 2022. Section 77 tasks the Executive Office of Veterans Services (in coordination with the Department of Mental Health) to create an advisory committee that investigates, studies, and examines:
- Ways to augment services to returning veterans to reduce the rate of suicide and effects of PTSD, depression, and anxiety
- Complexities of reintegration into civilian life
- Impacts of having a community peer liaison on veterans reintegration into society
- Relationships between isolation and suicide among veterans
- Impacts of community peer liaison on symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety
