Kate Katulak Higgins
Kate Katulak Higgins is the Associate Director of University Disability Resources at Harvard University, where she excels in providing leadership and developing best practices for disability access and inclusion. In this role, she is instrumental in shaping the university's approach to creating an inclusive campus environment.
Before her tenure at Harvard, Kate was a staff member at Perkins School for the Blind, where she began as a teacher in the Secondary School and advanced to become Associate Director of the College Success program. During this time, she was actively involved in Perkins’ Expanded Core Curriculum Steering Committee, where she contributed to the design of comprehensive curricula across various subject areas. Kate continues to maintain a close connection to Perkins, now as a Trustee on the Board and Chair to the Educational Programs Committee.
Kate’s professional journey also includes teaching students with visual impairments and delivering professional training to educators in Stamford, Connecticut. In the early days of her career, she gained research experience working in a psychology lab at Yale University.
She holds a master’s degree in education with a concentration in blindness and visual impairment from Columbia University’s Teachers College and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wright State University. Additionally, she serves as a delegate on the Malden Disability Commission. Kate’s diverse experience and expertise reflect her unwavering commitment to advancing educational access and support for people with disabilities.
