Board CORI Policy
Regarding the Required Grade and Character of Practical Experience
The Board of Registration of Landscape Architects ("the Board ") voted at its meeting on February 13, 2009 to adopt the following Policy Guideline. This policy guideline is intended as a recommended protocol for the profession to follow. The guideline set forth below does not have the full force and effect of law, as would a Massachusetts General Law or a Board rule or regulation. However, the Board uses policy guidelines as an internal management tool in formulating decisions that relate to issues in the practice of landscape architects.
Policy No. 09-001
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy statement is to offer guidance to Applicants for licensure regarding the required practical experience in Landscape Architectural work that will be of a grade and character satisfactory to the Board, as set forth in MGL c. 112 §101, para. (c),
Policy:
Pursuant to MGL c. 112 §101, para. (c), applicants for the Landscape Architectural Registration Exam (L.A.R.E.), must provide evidence to the Board that "…he has had two years of practical experience in landscape architectural work of a grade and character satisfactory to the board."
It is Board policy that in order to meet the requirements of MGL c. 112 §101, para. (c), applicants must provide the Board with evidence of a diversified experience.
Diversified experience shall mean a minimum of two years of full-time experience working in the field of landscape architecture, which was acquired after the satisfaction of the education requirement and under the direction of a registered or licensed landscape architect with a minimum of ten (10) years of licensed practice. Experience beyond the minimum 2 years may be considered if it is under a registered or licensed architect, engineer, land surveyor, certified planner or related government agency.
Diversified experience shall be taken to mean some or all of the following:

Regarding the Review of Examinations
The Board of Registration of Landscape Architects ("the Board") voted at its meeting on October 23, 2009 to adopt the following Policy Guideline.
This policy guideline is intended as a recommended protocol for the profession to follow. The guideline set forth below does not have the full force and effect of law, as would a Massachusetts General Law or a Board rule or regulation. However, the Board uses policy guidelines as an internal management tool in formulating decisions that relate to issues in the practice of landscape architects.
Policy No. 10-001
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy statement is to offer guidance to Applicants for licensure regarding the procedures for requesting reviews of their examinations.
Policy:
The Board is not involved in the review of examinations.
Candidates who wish to review their examinations shall contact the administrator(s) of the examinations and shall abide by the instructions and requirements of the administrator(s). Candidates shall contact the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (C.L.A.R.B) for the Landscape Architects Examination (L.A.R.E.) and the administrator for the Massachusetts section of the examination for further information.
