830 CMR 14.3.1: Volunteer Personnel

The Department of Revenue may, from time to time as necessary to carry out its official duties, appoint student interns and other volunteer personnel who shall receive no compensation from the Commonwealth; provided, however, that such volunteer personnel may receive stipends, allowances, scholarships, fellowships, grants, or other compensation from their educational institution, sponsoring organization, private employer, or other entity, for the period of time during which they are providing voluntary services to the Commonwealth. Such interns and other volunteer personnel must not be involved in particular matters that would present an appearance of conflict between the Department and the sponsoring entity, and must otherwise comply with all applicable provisions of the state conflict of interest law.
