The number of youth on the Department's committed caseload decreased during 2010. As displayed in Figure 4, there were 148 fewer clients on the Department's committed caseload on January 1, 2011 compared to one year ago. This represents a 10% decrease. DYS now has 61% less youth on its committed caseload than it did ten years ago.
As the data in Figure 5 indicates, the committed caseloads in all five DYS Regions decreased during the past year. The Metro Region showed the largest percentage decrease.

During the past year, the number of males on the Department's committed caseload decreased by 112 (9%). The number of females decreased by 36 (16%) during the same period. As the data in Figure 6 shows, the number of females on the DYS committed caseload has decreased by 250 (57%) since 2001. The number of males on the committed caseload has decreased by 1723 (61%) during this same ten-year period.
