On November 10, 2017, MassDEP issued for public comment a draft Acid Rain Permit for the construction of two simple-cycle combustion turbine generators at the Exelon West Medway facility, 9 Summer Street, Medway. The generators will burn natural gas (with ultra low-sulfur distillate as a backup fuel) and will operate based on dispatch orders from ISO New England during times of peak electrical energy demand. 

The deadline for public comment on the draft Acid Rain Permit is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017. Comments may be emailed to roseanna.stanley@state.ma.us or sent by regular mail to:

Proposed Air Plan Appoval & PSD Permit

In October 2016, MassDEP proposed approval of the Exelon West Medway project, subject to conditions and a public comment period that included a public hearing at Medway Middle School and ended in November 2016.
