MA SANE Training

For hospitals, law enforcement, and other professional organizations

The MA SANE Program offers trainings to hospital clinicians and other medical providers regarding trauma-informed care for sexual assault patients of all ages. This includes topics such as how to conduct a forensic exam using the MA Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit (MSAECK) for patients 12 years and older and the MA Pediatric Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit (MA PEDI Kit) for patients 11 years and younger. Every MA hospital receives these kits from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS). There is an expectation that patients are entitled to receive trauma-informed care regarding medical forensic exams and appropriate prophylaxis to prevent assault-related pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) including HIV at any hospital. The MA SANE Program can help ensure that hospitals are able to fulfill this expectation.
