MassDEP Air Quality Advisory Committee

This stakeholder group provides input to MassDEP on clean air regulations, policies, and programs.

The Air Quality Advisory Committee (AQAC) consolidates the former MassDEP State Implementation Plan (SIP) Steering Committee and Air Permitting Forum.

AQAC provides input to the agency on a variety of clean air regulations, policies, and programs under both Massachusetts statutes and the federal Clean Air Act. Participants advise MassDEP on the development of SIPs for meeting National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and regional haze requirements.

Stakeholders include representatives of municipalities, regional planning organizations, environmental advocacy groups, businesses, consulting firms, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Meetings are scheduled on an “as needed” basis.
