Notice of Linguistic Access

The OLA has posted a multilingual poster in all court locations that says in 30 languages: "You have the right to an interpreter at no cost to you. Please point to your language. An interpreter will be called. Please wait."

This poster was modified by The Mass Law Reform Institute from a version of an Interpreter Services poster first prepared by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. It includes multiple languages used throughout the state and lets LEP persons know they have a right to an interpreter while helping the court identify the correct language.

In a larger format as a welcoming multilingual poster, it can function as a notice to LEP persons that the court provides them interpreters for free. In a smaller format, the notice can be used to help court staff when working with an LEP individual to help identify their language or for persons who want to communicate language needs to court staff. The OLA has posted the notice at court entrances and made the document available for download.
