Program Guidelines and Instructions
The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities' (EOHLC) division of Public Housing and Rental Assistance is responsible for the oversight of all state and federally-aided rental assistance programs that address the needs of low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
How it works:
Tenants pay no more than 30% of their adjusted income for rent and utilities.
Supportive services are generally required to be made available to the tenants and a project sponsor arranges for the provision of these services. Acceptance of these services, however, is not a tenant eligibility requirement.
EOHLC administers five Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation SRO developments, as follows:
- Lowell, 8 units targeted to persons living with AIDS/ HIV
- Worcester, 38 units for homeless individuals
- Gardner, 15 units targeted to homeless veterans
- Haverhill, 19 units targeted to homeless veterans
- Springfield, 44 units targeted to homeless individuals
The monthly rental assistance housing subsidy is administered by EOHLC's regional Section 8 contractors.
Who is eligible:
Very low-income homeless individuals who may or may not have supportive service needs.
