I was on the list for a kidney and

0:11

pancreas transplant and my time came up

0:18

on February 14 2013 and I decided to go

0:27

for it

0:28

so when I came back I said to my sister

0:31

and my dad who are in my bro I feel

0:34

great this is awesome and then ten days

0:39

later I told my nurses that each day it

0:47

was hard for me to walk and on the tenth

0:52

day I discovered that I had an allergic

0:56

reaction to the medicine the

1:01

anti-rejection medicine that I was on I

1:05

was paralyzed

1:09

the infection went into my spinal cord

1:15

and didn't exactly separate but it made

1:25

me unable to walk from my waist down or

1:28

feel from my waist down

1:31

my sister has set me up with Tewksbury

1:34

State Hospital and I was there for two

1:44

and three quarters of a year two years

1:49

plus I wasn't able to go to anything I

1:56

couldn't go to the store I couldn't go

1:59

to the only places I could go were for

2:05

holidays I would go during the summer at

2:12

my birthday I would go

2:14

[Music]

2:16

home and Thanksgiving Christmas Easter

2:30

one hole that was supposed to be in

2:34

Burlington because I wanted to stay

2:37

close to both my parents did it piano so

2:46

they told me about a home in Billerica

2:48

and I moved in on the 21st we get to go

2:56

places and do things it's just so much

3:02

more exciting than living in a hospital

3:07

my friend who I moved in the house with

3:10

we are basically the cookers of the

3:14

house which we love

3:19

another thing we get a lot of is our own

3:24

personal care the difference between

3:29

[Music]

3:31

living in the hospital to living here is

3:38

they made the helpers here made it clear

3:44

to me that I'm not in the hospital I

3:47

don't have to get up at 9 o'clock I am

3:52

living my life and I love it
